lockdown

BMS Families,

Today we practiced a Lockdown Drill for about 7 minutes in which we used the “Lockdown” process outlined in our MSD Emergency Operations plan. In a “Lockdown” situation, there is a threat or hazard inside the school building. During a “Lockdown,” classrooms are locked, lights are turned off, and staff/students get out of sight. We prepared students at our December assembly on Monday that we'd be practicing today. Students were informed of the drill ahead of time by their classroom teachers. An announcement was made just before the drill began reminding students it was a drill.

We will practice various drills throughout the school year. Some will be announced, others will not. We will always communicate with families after the drill. We practice so we are ready in a real emergency.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Mrs. Johnston @ katie.johnston@meeker.k12.co.us or 970-878-9060 Ext 202.

Warmly,

Katie Johnston
