Barone Middle School Special Education Teacher


Meeker School District is seeking highly qualified individuals to fill the vacant position of Special Education Teacher at Barone Middle School.  The District requires a person with a strong knowledge of special education methodologies and working with educationally disabled children, preferably with experience working with sixth to twelfth graders.

Meeker School District has an approximate enrollment of 670 students in grades Pre-K through Twelve.  The Middle School has approximately 165 students 6th-8th grades.  We are seeking individuals who have the understanding of the intellectual, social, and emotional needs of middle school aged students. The Meeker Re-1 School District is seeking an enthusiastic person who wants to join a staff committed to “Excellence in all we do”.

Salary Scale: $43,015 - $92,482 annual. All years teaching experience will be honored for veteran teachers.

Date Available: Position begins immediately

Job Functions/Qualifications:

  • Applicants need to hold a valid Colorado Teaching License with the ages 5-12 Special Education Generalist Endorsement, or be assured that said license/endorsement can be obtained within 30 days of hire.

  • Provide case management (oversees special education process)

    • Assure and verify that Individual Education Plan (IEP) services are implemented in compliance with federal, state, and district regulations

    • Assure compliance with special education procedural requirements

    • Communicate and coordinate among home, school, and other agencies, and regular and special education programs

    • Facilitate placement

    • Train classroom staff

    •   Schedule team meetings

  • Develop and implement IEPs

  • Assist with developing and implementing Behavior Intervention Plans

  • Provide direct instructional services

  • Develop and modify curriculum

  • Develop accommodations

  • Coordinate appropriate services

  • Monitor assessments and progress 

  • Liaison and consult with teachers, providers, administrators, parents, service agencies, and community

  • Delegate related services (OT, speech, vision, hearing)

  • Schedule and provide in-class support
